Acute or chronic rheumatic disorders trigger localised pain especially in the joints and soft tissue surrounding them. Rheumatism can exist in various forms: degenerative (arthrosis) or inflammatory, acute or chronic (gout, rheumatoid arthritis deformans, for example).
Laboratory tests can distinguish between degenerative rheumatic diseases and those of an inflammatory origin. Numerous treatments are available: medicinal, physiotherapy and functional rehabilitation as well as surgery.
The physiotherapy and functional rehabilitation centre at the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu, which has been managed by consultants (rheumatologists as well as orthopaedic and rehabilitation specialists) since 1987, can effectively treat various rheumatic disorders and especially those of a traumatic nature.
The centre operates in close collaboration with the Sports’ Medicine Unit, which intervenes in the event of acute trauma or overload injuries sustained during sporting activities: tendons, muscles, joints, low back pain, etc.
The Sports’ Medicine Unit is also involved in preventing overload injuries by correcting sporting techniques and poor posture, and through investigating better ergonomics in the workplace.
