Highlights
- Surgical Protocol: launching the European Data Base
- Live surgery
- Video and interactive presentation by the participants
Since the beginning of robotics in urology, many procedures have been successfully completed. At the same time, certain indications still require some validation. One thing is sure, there is a dramatic increase in the number of procedures performed, in particular for radical prostatectomies (2600 in 2003 and an expected 8000 in 2004). But the time has come to standardise the language. Taking into account the number of prostatectomies done to date in Europe, we must now present European results using the same common criteria.
Programme Overview
A review of the anatomy and histology of prostate cancers and the approach to oncological results in accordance with surgical margins. Interactive discussions with an electronic voting system, used throughout the symposium. Elaboration of a European data base as well as an evaluation protocol.
Other aspects of robotics in urology: cystectomy, pyeloplasty, nephrectomy and vasectomy reversal. The economic considerations of robotised surgery.
