To help you become attuned to your newborn, maternity caregivers are available to show you how to massage your baby.
Why massage your baby?
- For physical and emotional well-being
- To promote relaxation for both you and your baby
- To communicate differently and meaningfully with your baby
- To strengthen the parent/child bond
- To relieve certain minor discomforts (especially stomach aches!)
- To stimulate the body
What do the classes involve?
These classes are taught in French by certified IAIM instructors. It is possible to bring your child to a class from the age of 1 month up to 1 year. They take place in the Maternity Ward, at regular intervals with 4 sessions spread over a month; each session accommodates small groups of 3 to 5 families. Fathers are also welcome to join! You just need to bring a towel, a change and food for your baby.
Learning is progressive and your baby's rhythm is respected: in each session, you will learn to massage a different part of his/her body so that he/she gradually becomes familiar with the massage experience.
The classes are an opportunity to meet and share experiences with other parents. Each class includes a discussion about babies and parenting.
At the end of the course, you will be given a bottle of massage oil and a copy of a book entitled Baby Massage, which covers what you have learned during the classes and allows you to practise at home!
Hours and prices
The course consists of four 60-90 minute sessions which take place on Thursdays from 10:30 to 12:00, at the Maternity Ward of the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu.
There is a fixed price: CHF 200 - which includes 4 sessions, 1 bottle of massage oil and a book.
For registration, the maternity ward will welcome you by phone +41 22 839 57 07 (Monday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm) or by e-mail email@example.com.
