Competences

Dr Georges-Antoine de Boccard studied medicine at the University of Geneva. There, he specialised in urology and was awarded the titles of FMH Specialist in Urology (Switzerland) in 1991, FEBU (European Board of Urology) in 1992 and FMH Specialist in Operative Urology in 2004.
Since 1991, he has been one of the pioneers of laparoscopic surgery in urology, and in 2003 helped introduce robot-assisted surgery and set up the multidisciplinary Centre for robot-assisted laparoscopic surgery at the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu.
He has developed several techniques for robot-assisted microsurgery using the Da Vinci® surgical robot, techniques that he teaches at the IRCAD (Strasbourg) and as part of the Geneva Foundation for Medical Education and Research (www.gfmer.ch). He has presented these techniques at numerous international conferences and written book chapters on the subject.
In 2005, he co-founded the Centre for Medically Assisted Reproduction at the Clinique Générale-Beaulieu, where he performs microsurgery on male fertility.

He is a specialist in the surgical treatment of erectile dysfunction using implants of various types, as well as in the treatment of post-operative incontinence using artificial sphincters.

Dr de Boccard is a founding member of the Swiss International Prostate Center(SIPC). He was President of the Swiss Urological Society (2005-2006). He co-chaired the ERUS (Europan Robotic Urology Symposium) congress in 2005 and is chairing the RAMSES (Robotic Assisted Microsurgical & Endoscopic Society) congress in 2015. Dr de Boccard is a member of the Society of Robotic Surgery (SRS), the Robotic Assisted Microsurgical & Endoscopic Society (RAMSES), the Swiss Society of Urology (SSU), the European Association of Urology (EAU), the American Association of Urology (AUA), the International Society of Urology (ISU) and the Association française d'urologie (AFU).
